The "Emu SX1i" is a semi-professional and versatile compact 19inch server system with a height of 1U and a depth of only 25cm. The heart is a high quality mini ITX server motherboard with intel socket 1155 , which provides two Gigabit LAN ports, one PCI-E x16 slot, also a memory extension up to max 16GB RAM and a basic onboard RAID (Intel Rapid Storage Technology / firmware RAID). The basic configuration of this server is based on a power-saving Intel Core i3-3220T with 2 x 2.8 Ghz, 3M L2 cache, and only 35 watts maximum power. In addition Kingston 4GB DDR3-1333 RAM and a 60GB Intel SSD 330 series are applicated in this extremely rugged 1U case.
Perfectly equipped for many applications h6> The target by designing this system was a high degree of flexibility with compact dimensions and low power consumption. This device provides a lot of options to spezialize it for various tasks. So, for example, as a compact data server with the appropriate hard disk capacity or as a firewall server with 4-6 LAN ports - using additional plugged Dual / Quad Port NICs. Optionally, the server can also be equipped with an normal Intel Core i3 dual-core processor or a higher-level intel XEON quad-core processor.
The mainboard provides beside two Gigabit LAN ports an onboard graphics card with DVI-I port, four internal SATA connectors (2 x SATA-3/2 x SATA-2) and a firmware RAID controller (Intel Rapid Storage Technology), which provides fundamental RAID functions (RAID 0, 1, 5, JBOD, 0 +1). Additionally the existing PCIe x16 slot can be used via optional PCIe riser-card - for example to integrate additional dual port / Dual Port PCIe network cards or ISDN cards into the system.
The high-quality 1U chassis with 250W PSU FlexATX power supply and 80 PLUS certification provides a robust platform - even under demanding conditions. Installation in a 19-inch server-rack or network-cabinet can alternatively be carried out with the chassis turned by 180 degrees for direct access to the connectors at the rear of the system. For this case, it is possible to integrate a second set of control-buttons and LEDs into the back-side of the chassis. In the front the usual controls and LEDs and two USB 2.0 ports, are located.
Normally the 1U chassis supports only two 2.5" hard drives or SSDs. But with a small modification we can equip the system with up to four 2.5" hard disks or SSDs (in this case the PCIe x16 slot is no longer usable). The most common case is the combination of two large 2.5" data drives in a RAID 1, and a small 2.5" SSD with the operating system.
In the basic configuration, the system power consumption in idle mode is only about 30 watts. This is an excellent value when you consider that a professional server system with full dual-core processor is available, which provides, among other things, virtualization (Intel VT-x). An even better energy efficiency have only our intel "atom" server systems available in our shop - however, these do not have by far the same functionality as this system.
After system-assembly, the completed system receives an extensive and thorough system-test before being shipped. Included in the scope of supply are - apart from the server-system - the complete mainboard-accessories including the manual, a power-cord and a set of small accessory parts. So you can continue to configure the system according to your needs.

When using a 3,5" harddisk in this system, there is not enough room left for the integration of an expansion-card with a riser-card. This integration is only possible, when using 2,5" harddisks or SSD´s.
