The cable is used for the internal connection of various SATA 6 Gb/s devices, like hard-disks, controller-cards or flash-memory. In addition, the SATA 6 Gb/s interface is backwards compatible with the previous SATA versions, whereby only the respective transfer rate can be achieved here.
